Massachusetts Enacts Paid Sick Leave
On November 4th, 2014, Massachusetts voters approved a ballot measure to provide earned paid sick leave to employees. Question 4 on the ballot, which is also known as the Massachusetts Paid Sick Days Initiative, passed by a 60 to 40 percent margin which means Massachusetts Enacts Paid Sick Leave.
Beginning on July 1st, 2015, all Massachusetts employers must allow employees to earn and use up to 40 hours of sick leave per calendar year.
