Workshop Overview
When you run a business, you need to be up to speed on numerous employee compliance issues. The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) protects members of the US Armed Forces against discrimination or job loss, whether they enlist voluntarily or are called to active duty involuntarily. I-9 Forms serve as verification that employees are authorized to work in the United States. As such, these forms are some of the most important documents you will have your employees complete. This workshop will also help you avoid compliance violations and potentially costly lawsuits. Under USERRA, we’ll explain your employment and re-employment obligations for returning service members and address I-9 updates,
Attendees will learn:
- Your employee or former employee’s rights to re-employment upon return from military service
- Your health coverage obligations for employees who serve
- How USERRA interacts with other Federal regulations such as FMLA
- Your obligations in completing I-9 Forms for all employees
- What employers must accept as documentation for I-9s
Presented by Bryanne Kingsbury and Jim Hill, this workshop is recommended for business owners, HR directors and managers of companies of all sizes.
