Historic Hinsdale, New Hampshire:
Originally a part of Northfield, Massachusetts, Hinsdale was derived from a grant from Nawellet in 1687. In 1737, Daniel Shattuck built the first house in town, a sturdy log cabin that was known as Fort Shattuck. In 1742, Colonel Ebenezer Hinsdale built a fort and a gristmill on Ash Swamp Brook. A charter was granted on September 3, 1753 and the town was named Hinsdale.Today Hinsdale is a small New England Community with a hometown flair, offering a fun day of racing at the Hinsdale Greyhound Park.
